HTC Touch 3G

One of the most attractive Windows smartphones on the market, the HTC Touch 3G is a compact 3.5G smartphone that also features WiFi and GPS.Before we look at the Touch 3G, it's perhaps worth noting the demise of the similarly specified and wonderfully named HTC Touch Cruise, because the Touch 3G does pretty much everything the Touch Cruise does.. but with a rather more boring name.

LG KC 910

Other than Sony Ericsson C905 and Samsung Innov8 i8510, LG KC910 is the third GSM mobile phone that featuring a 8 megapixel camera module. The LG KC910 has a codename called LG Renoir, which came from a name of an artist. According to GSMHelpDesk hands on, the KC910 has implemented a similar interface as Samsung TouchWIZ UI. Unlike Samsung, which places the TouchWIZ bar at the side, LG has a row of little icons at the bottom of the display screen. You can move the icon out from the bar to the main screen, and it will be activated on the screen.

The Sony Ericsson G705 is an HSDPA capable 3.5G slider phone with GPS, a 3.2 megapixel camera and built-in WiFi, due for general release during Q4 2008.

It's not a top-of-the-range handset, but the presence of GPS marks it out as being something other than a midrange device. Perhaps what Sony Ericsson are trying to achieve is a mass market GPS phone, and certainly it seems to meet all the requirements.. except for one.

You see, the problem with the G705 (and indeed some other recent Sony Ericsson releases) is that it's quite dull. Although it's a tidily designed handset, it's hardly sexy. And Sony Ericsson's new naming convention is awfully unmemorable. G705? Try to remember the handset model tomorrow without looking it up. If this was an LG or Samsung handset then you can bet that they would have thought of some snazzy marketing name for it.
